What’s the process for getting porcelain veneers?
Dr. Durfey will examine your teeth to ensure they’re healthy enough for veneers. Then, we’ll discuss the goals you want to achieve through cosmetic dentistry to see if veneers are your best option. If so, we’ll plan your treatment and prep the teeth you want to fix by shaving off a thin layer of enamel to accommodate the veneers. We’ll take impressions of your teeth and send them to a lab to have your restorations custom-crafted for you. While waiting for your permanent restorations, we’ll place temporary veneers on your teeth. When your permanent veneers are ready, we’ll switch the two, transforming your smile permanently.Â
How long do veneers last?
The lifespan of veneers depends on oral care. If you’re diligent about caring for your teeth, porcelain veneers can last up to fifteen years. Normal brushing and flossing with non-abrasive toothpaste and routine dental cleanings will keep veneers in good condition long-term. If you chew on ice, bite nails, or open packages with your teeth, you’ll need to stop to avoid damaging your veneers.Â
