The team at Aztec Family Dental Care is excited to welcome you and your family to our practice. Dr. James Durfey and his team are eager to help, whether you are switching to a dental office “near me,” are new in Aztec, New Mexico, or have never been to a dentist. We are always excited to see new smiles coming through our door, and we always treat new and existing patients like family.
The first visit with our office establishes a vital foundation for our relationship with you, and knowing what to expect will make you confident ahead of your visit.
During the initial visit, expect a smooth, anxiety-free experience. Once you arrive at our office, you’ll be welcomed by our warm and friendly reception team. We always advise new patients to arrive at least 15 minutes before their appointment to fill out the necessary paperwork. However, for an even more seamless experience, you can complete our new patient forms online ahead of your visit.
The first visit allows us to know you, including your medical history and current dental concerns. If you have had dental X-rays for the last six months, please bring them. However, if you don’t have them, no worries! We’ll take new X-rays in our office.
We are dedicated to delivering the utmost care and comfort to you. We believe strong relationships are founded on trust, and we build this from the first visit. Approaching your dental care with a positive attitude sets the stage for us to embark on this journey together.
Your first visit always comprises a comprehensive dental exam. A dental exam is a fast and painless procedure, so you’ve nothing to worry about. During a dental check-up, the dentist probes your mouth to identify signs of:
We’ll also take your dental X-rays to unearth issues like impacted wisdom teeth, cysts, tumors, etc., that can’t be spotted with the naked eye. We understand you may have concerns about X-rays, but we use the safest dental X-rays. Our digital radiographs emit 80-90% less radiation than film-based X-rays.Â
After a dental exam, we’ll professionally clean your teeth to remove built-in plaque and tartar. Again, expect a painless procedure. The dental hygienist uses gentle techniques to clean all the surfaces of your teeth. Once your teeth are sparkly clean, the last step is to polish them for a smooth, shiny finish.
Payment is due at the time services are rendered. We accept cash, checks, and credit and debit cards (With a 3% charge on credit and debit cards). We also accept several insurance plans, but remember many insurance providers pay for basic preventive care, and patients may be required to cover a portion of other treatments.
Sometimes, we understand not all patients have insurance coverage. We have an in-house dental savings plan to help you enjoy standard care and a 20% discount on other treatments. Regardless of budget, we believe everyone deserves the care they need!
Our team in Aztec, NM, goes above and beyond to ensure you and your family’s experience is comfortable on the first visit and beyond. Schedule an appointment today by dialing (505) 390-1117.
